Super Visa LICO requirements
The income test behind a Super Visa, in plain terms — and where to confirm the current numbers.
To sponsor a parent or grandparent on a Super Visa, the Canadian host has to show they earn at least a minimum income — the Low Income Cut-Off (LICO) for their household size.
How LICO works
- The threshold rises with household size — and the visiting parents count toward that size.
- It’s typically shown with proof of income such as a Notice of Assessment, employment letter, or pay records.
- The figures are updated annually by the government, so last year’s number may not apply.
Because the exact thresholds change each year, confirm the current LICO table on the official IRCC website (or with our specialist site) rather than relying on an old figure.
