Student insurance — FAQ

Do international students in Canada need insurance?
Most do. Coverage requirements depend on the province and the school — some provinces include students in a public plan, others do not, and many schools require proof of coverage. Check your province and institution, and insure any gap.
I am a Canadian studying abroad — what do I need?
You generally need travel medical insurance for the country and duration of your program, because your provincial plan covers little overseas. See our students-abroad page in the travel-medical section.
